As part of the latest State Government plans for local government reform, the City of Canning looms as one of the big losers, ceasing to exist and being split between the Melville, Gosnells, South Perth/Victoria Park and Belmont/Kalamunda councils.
The part that most effects our club, and all other clubs based in Willetton, is the move of the whole suburb of Willetton to an expanded City of Melville, potentially driving up hire costs for Burrendah Reserve and putting the Burrendah Precinct project in serious jeopardy.
The club has a long standing relaitionship with the Club Development team at the City of Canning, and the City has shown its support of our club, as well as the Willetton District Cricket Club and Canning City FC with their commitment to the upgrade of the the facilites at Burrendah Reserve.
You can do your bit to help in the Fight for Canning by signing the petition at fightforcanning.com.au before Thursday 13th March. You can also make a public submission directly to the Local Government Advisory Board, quoting Proposal Number 07/2013 by Thursday 13th March.
Together, we can take on the State Government and win the battle for Canning!
