IT'S BACK....
School???....yes many of our boys are back at school today but there's something just as important...
MJFC FOOTBALL SEASON 2014
A big lion hearted welcome to all Parents and Players for the start of the MJFC 2014 season. I hope that everyone has relaxed, enjoyed the summer break and are fighting fit, ready for a bumper year.
Lets get straight into it with the big news first..
******** REGISTRATIONS ARE NOW OPEN *****************
You may have received an email from Kym, our tireless club Registrar, indicating that our online registrations are finally up and open for all. Please visit our website, get on line and register ASAP. Unfortunately there have been many SMJFL technical issues that have prevented us from being open any earlier but....here it is now!!!!
Details of our registration day can also be found on the club website.
HUNGRY FOR PRE-SEASON TRAINING ....already?
Yep...for many teams preseason training has already begun or is in the process of starting shortly. Whilst our friends at all cricket clubs have enjoyed hot Saturday afternoons, many seasons are still in progress and as such, they have priority access to our ovals. Your coach or team mangers will advise of the "when and where" for your teams training. Good luck, fire up and lets get ready.
CLUB VOLUNTEERS.... WE STILL NEED MORE
We have almost completed our strategic planning for the 2014. Many parents are already making their commitment and taking up the many options there are to help, most importantly, the vital Coaches and Team support roles. But there is always room for more... there is no cap on what you can do for the club.
In particular, the critically important role of our Club Secretary is still vacant. This needs to be filled so that we, the club, can operate effectively.
Contact myself directly or any other Committee member for further details on how you can help with this key Committee role
TEAMS FOR 2014...What to expect
All our teams, approx 16 in total, are currently being provided with new jumpers, training equipment, etc.... but there is also the need for every player this year to update too.
Each player MUST have the new SMJFL approved socks and shorts. These can be purchased through our property and club stalwart, Carl Carter - details on the website.
We will again take all the appropriate steps to ensure that all our teams are graded appropriately. The league had officially acknowledged to MJFC, myself personally, that this was not the case last season and are fully aware of the repercussions that resulted.
Over the summer months, evidence that other clubs are now implementing the practise of "soft grading" within the lower age groups. Please note that the SMJFL has not yet given any official green light for this practice to be implemented within a club's policy. The MJFC is aware of this though and we are keeping a close eye on any developments within this trend. It will b reviewed in due course and responses and comments from our parent group over the coming season will be welcomed.
Departures & Arrivals
It is with the warmest of heartfelt gratitude that the Committee and on behalf of all club members wish to pass on their thanks to two retiring members of our Committee.
Cheryl Carter -Treasurer and Matt O'Malley -Secretary, have both completed their 3 year Tour of Duty. Their passion and commitment to our boys and the club have helped put us on the course we sail today.
New to the Committee for 2014 is Kirsten Geri who is taking on the Treasurer role from Cheryl. Kirsten is the mother of Jordan, an Under 11 superstar, and it is nice to see that a "New Guard" is beginning to make their mark on the club.
It's going to be a busy season so...
