In what we hope is the start of ongoing opportunites for our teams at West Brisbane Falcons Basketball Club, we hosted the South Vancouver Island Girls team in a match as part of their 2 week South-East Qld basketball tour.

Ourselves & North Brisbane Dragons were fortunate enough to be their hosts for their only 2 games in Brisbane as aprt of their tour so we were very fortunate to be given the opportunity.

The Vancouver girls were at the end of their tour when they met the Falcons girls and their Run, Fun & Gun style of play. We had the Vancouver girls on the back foot early but to their credit the South Vancouver girls fought back hard and it was tight at the end of the first quarter.

As the match progressed the Falcons girls with their stiffling full court defence forced the Vancouver girls into turnovers which gave us some easy transition baskets and allowed us to get a double digit lead. To their credit the Vancouver girls fought hard on every possession and made the Falcons girls earn everything they got.

In the end the score was a 67-42 win to the West Brisbane girls but the scoreline was secondary to the experience of playing against the South Vancouver Island girls. 

After the match we hosted a Sausage Sizzle for all players, coaching staff & supporters from both teams and it was great to see both teams mingling and getting along so well.
