Mens GBL Gold Team taste Championship Season Grand Final Glory
Our Men's GBL Gold team have avenged their 2008 buzzer beater Championship Season Grand Final loss by beating their nemesis Saints in the 2009 Championship Season Grand Final.
After falling to the Saints by 92 to 79 in the first semi final two weeks ago, our Dragon's team always looked in control of tonight's game to run out eventual winners 101 to 75. Our men played a solid team game with every member of the team getting court time and displaying an unselfish team focus. With the game under control, our men also took the opportunity to play some razzle dazzle basketball and slam dunks in the latter minutes.
Perhaps the most noticeable contribution was a cameo appearance from Farmie in his return from injury. After playing most of the season as a member of the starting five, Farmie was able to overcome his injury temporarily and managed 20 seconds of court time with no baskets from 2 attempts!
Congratulations to Geoff & Mick Tarrant and the members of the team for a wonderful outcome to a season that almost saw them go totally undefeated. A big thank you as well to those members of our Dragon's community who came along to the game to support our team in bringing home this honour.
