North Brisbane Basketball is calling on our Dragons Community to have some fun and participate in the upcoming Bridge to Brisbane Fun Run to be held on Sunday, 11 September 2011.

Even though it’s classified as a “Fun Run”, you are quite entitled to turn it into a “Fun Walk”

For those competing (and we use the term loosely) in the 10K event, the run will commence at 6.10am from the Sir Leo Hielscher Bridge – South (formerly Gateway Bridge), travel along Kingsford Smith Drive, continue along the Inner City Bypass (ICB), exit onto Mayne Street, into Hamilton Place, then into RNA Showground.

For those who don’t want to put in effort for the 10K, the organisers very kindly offer a shorter version of the “Race”. This will see you complete only 5K, commencing at 9.40am from the Hamilton Recreational Reserve on Remora Road at Portside, Hamilton. The course will turn left onto Kingsford Smith Drive and follow the last 5km of the 10km event, ending at the Ekka.

This is a great opportunity for Dragons Community members, family and friends, to not only show the team spirit at Dragons but to also support a worthy cause. This year, the organisers of the Bridge to Brisbane are supporting Legacy. Legacy is dedicated to caring for the families of deceased veterans and assists more than 100,000 widows and 1,900 children nationally. Their vision is that no Australian veteran’s family will ever face the challenges of life alone after the veteran’s death and they do whatever it takes to enable families to thrive, despite the loss and sacrifice.

So, what a great way to start your Sunday and then finish it with our Trophy Day presentations. Up early, get some exercise, have some fun and socialize with the rest of Brisbane. After the event, at the Ekka grounds there will be Catering areas, Food vendors, Entertainment, Race presentations, Random Draw Prize, Transport Information, and Meeting Points where we will arrange to catch up with other Dragons members. All of this information will be available in your race kit.
