North Brisbane Basketball have used their 2008 trophy day to announce an extension of their BASKETBALL B.L.A.S.T. ™ program for 2009 and future years.  “We have seen the benefit of basic skills training in our younger players and believe our B.L.A.S.T. ™ concept can be applied across a whole raft of skills to all players” said President Tom Coogan.  “Our B.L.A.S.T. ™ brand will be applied to a new specialised skills delivery which will support coaches by developing identified skill requirements in players of all ages.  These may be in such areas as layups, defense, ball movement, shooting etc.” said Coogan

“Your committee believe this extension of B.L.A.S.T. ™ will provide all new players with the opportunity to develop their basic skills away from their normal coaching regime giving coaches a greater ability to focus on team skills ideally with people approaching similar skills levels.  It will also allow those players wanting to further their skills development the opportunity to do so with particular specializations and, ultimately, to be recognized publicly as having achieved a certain level of competency.  This will create a significant point of difference between Dragons and other BBI Clubs and allow us to continue to foster our desire of developing players.” said Coogan
