Introducing a 4 week intensive focus for newcomers to the game - B.L.A.S.T.TM 4rookies

Drawing on the success of our B.L.A.S.T.TM 6eleven program, Dragons are proud to announce a new training initiative for newcomers to the game.  Delivered by our GBL Women's Gold team Coach, Dwayne Vigilance, and continuing our Dragons educating Dragons philosophy, B.L.A.S.T.TM 4rookies  introduces new players to the game to some basic fundamentals that will assist them in taking their game to a new level.  Dwaynes sessions will educate our new players on essential aspects of the game including:

  • footwork used with dribbling or ball handling and shooting;
  • ball handling used with dribbling;
  • aspects of shooting;
  • individual offense techniques;
  • passing techniques;
  • individual defense techniques.

Participation is limited to ensure players obtain individual focussed training from a coach with:

  • experience in the Queensland Basketball League as assistant coach of the Brisbane Capitals women's team and coach of the D league team;
  • international coaching experience including stints in Canadian college basketball and Japan;
  • a level 3 NCCP qualification; and
  • over 10 years experience developing implementing and evaluating basketball curriculums for non-elite and elite athletes.

The course will commence on Monday, June 21 and continue over the June/July holidays. This will enable players to take their skills straight into competition games commencing July 16/17.  Training is from 6:30 to 7:30 at the PCYC.

Cost is $70 for the 4 weeks and includes PCYC fees.
