Game 3 Report

After last week's lacklustre performance the Eagles brought something close to their A game and were unlucky not to get up over a speedy Bulldogs side.
Things started well with a couple of early goals but the men from the most hated team in the comp were able to get ahead and unfortunately we couldn't peg back in front.

Match Report:

Well, we had a decent first quarter and pulled things together in the fourth but unfortunately we leaked far too many points through the middle of the game.
The Blues were slick through the middle and did a good job of confusing our defence. We also fluffed some great chances to score.
All in all a disappointing result, but it wasn't all bad and we showed some great fight.....

The New Zealand Hawks have endured a tough test, and come out victorious, beating the USA Revolution by a margin of 10.11:71 – 2.1:13.
In a match that was far closer than the scoreline would suggest, it was the superior structure and composure of New Zealand that carried the day at the Montrose Recreational Reserve.

Howie and The Hawks slay the Dragons and Claim the Princess

New Zealand played in another massive mismatch today against the China Dragons winning 28.26 (194) to 0.0 (0). Having also run up a cricket score against the Sweden Elks on Sunday whilst also holding their opposition to no score the Hawks defence has seen little work thus far.

Today's game was played at the Linen House Oval in Seaford, the training base for the St Kilda Saints.

Cobwebs blown away - Game 8 Report

With the rain torrential, the temperature dipping well below 10 Celcius and the wind approaching hurricane strength it was amazing that more than 18 Eagles showed up for Saturday's game. Twenty-two players showed up with their boots, all set to go, and as things went this was rather fortunate. With some Eagles having made the most of their end of lectures shin-dig, there were a few fairly pale faces around the place, with honourable mention needing to be made for Rob "Bluey" Williamson. "Powerhouse" Morel had over-exerted himself in the moshpit at the Stein and provided streling service as a completely impartial and exceedingly damp goal umpire at the windward end of the field.
The Blues would surely have been rueing the draw we offered them just before kickoff as our superior skill, athleticism and being one man up on the opposition saw us through for our third victory over them this season.
Good luck to those among us travelling up to Auckland at the weekend to play for Canterbury in the NPC. Go hard boys, and show the rest of them what the Eagles are all about. Late breaking news is that El Presidente (Sweaty) has made the squad as well. Training is still happening on Wendesday though.

So, we dodged a bullet there for sure!
Things were looking hopeful with a full team there well before kickoff time, but shit went downhill real quick once the warmup started. Balls went to ground, kicks went haywire and we looked a lot like a rabble. It took a bloody long time to get the yips out of our system and it could have been a lot different were it not for some poor kicking from the Blues and outstanding defence in the second half.

Eagles Update

Howdy Eagles,

This week saw the Eagles biggest victory in at least four years by dead set violently sodomising the Blues. It felt pretty good to be on the other end of a thrashing for a change. But this week we've got a massive challenge ahead, facing the defending champs, the Bulldogs. Personally, I believe the Bulldogs are possibly the most homosexual sporting team on the planet (even more so than Blyth Tait and Reddy Teddy), I also know that a couple of our newest Eagles that saw the light this year have some pretty strong feelings against the Bulldogs so this should be a battle for the ages.

Match Report - Blues:
After the blues scored the first goal, which was a pretty poor effort, the Eagles launched into their work. With killer like instinct up front and the fortress of defence at the back the Bulldogs didn't fire a shot again until the final quarter when the Eagles opted to blood some hot new talent.

Score: Shit tonnes to ~20

Highlights:

Promising new talent being let loose on the paddock. Particularly Payno in the ruck is already threatening Georges drunken hold on the position
Adrian battling with the basics of the English language, "Eagles on three, 3...2...1..." Second effort, "Righto Eagles...Eaglgargh" ...no response.
Bringing up the hundy
Decent conversion rate that I cant quite remember but know was good

Lowlights:

Adrians battle with the basics of the English language
Letting the Blues get one last goal in, in the final quarter

Hickey had a German chick in the palm of his hand..."she wanted to leave with me..." but managed to spoil it, sounds like the self sabotage bug has been passed on to me. Rumour has it she wanted to shove a tea towel up his arse and rip it out...which as we all know makes you shit the bed. I hear the Gerrys are into that. You really dropped the ball on that one hickey

As already noted, we've got the Bulldogs. I hate the Bulldogs. Thats why I love to play them and generally abuse them for 80 minutes, so this should be a mint game.
