ABC TV celebrity and author Mary Moody will be the star attraction at the Bathurst Bushrangers’ Ladies ‘Lunch with a Heart’.
The lunch is a fundraiser for the Bushrangers Australian Rules Football Club to help raise money to buy a defibrillator for the clubrooms and ground.
The aim is to raise $2500 for the defibrillator, but that is not the sole focus of the day.
Mary Moody will be the guest speaker at the lunch, giving a speech in two parts about some of the key experiences in her life.
Ms Moody is best known for her memoir trilogy about her time living in a medieval town in the south of France.
She has also appeared on ABC gardening show Gardening Australia and has published several books on gardening.
Signed copies of some of Ms Moody’s books will be available for purchase at the lunch on Saturday.
Ms Moody, who lives in the Bathurst region, is happily donating her time to help the cause.
“She loves being engaged with the community,” ‘Lunch with a Heart’ emcee Kay Nankervis said.
Talented local singer Olivia Fisher will perform at the function accompanied by Jonathon Lewis, who will be the only male in the room.
The club will be redecorated with a feminine theme.
Catering will be provided by Cherie Gardener, who has previously worked under the guidance of her professional caterer mother.
Ms Gardener catered for the ladies’ lunch last year, and this year will be providing a three-course meal of hot food.
As part of the lunch, a raffle will be drawn. Prizes include a $250 Coles Myer gift card, a $100 Bunnings Warehouse gift card, and a $50 BCF gift card. One of Mary Moody’s recent books will be fourth prize.
Tickets to the lunch cost $35 and ladies need to pre-book by phoning Wendy on 0427 928 078.
“The place is always packed and everyone has a great time,” Ms Nankervis said.
Raffle tickets can be purchased for $2 each by calling Wendy.
