Premier League Men Naming Rights Sponsor

 

 

 

Thursday 4 July 2013 - Wests Magpies Basketball Club are delighted to announce they have secured local business Money Mechanics as the naming rights sponsor of their senior men's program.

Money Mechanics are Canberra-based financial advisers, specialising in financial life planning in the areas of self managed super funds, public sector superannuation, wealth creation, salary sacrifice, gearing strategies, estate and risk management planning.

Director Scott Malcolm said: "Money Mechanics are proud to commence this association with the Wests Magpies men's program.  The club has a long history of on-court success and we look forward to partnering with them to help broker a new level of professionalism in the local Premier League competition."

For the remainder of the 2013 Championship Season, the club's Premier Division 1 and Premier Division 2 men’s teams will be known as the Wests Money Mechanics Magpies.

The Wests Money Mechanics Magpies men are the reigning premiers in both Premier Division 1 and Premier Division 2 and the Premier Division 1 men have won the last four Basketball ACT Championship Seasons.  Last night at Belconnen Basketball and Sports Centre, the Premier Division 1 men had a hard-fought 56-54 victory over Belconnen Ramblers, on the back of 17 points each from rookies Pat Adams and Chima Moneke, to take their record to 9-1 for the season.

Premier Division - 3 out of 4 Summer Season Titles

 

Thursday 4 April 2013 - The Senior Club has completed another successful season winning 3 out of the 4 Senior Premier Divisions.  On Wednesday night both the Division 1 women and the Division 1 men had thumping victories - the women 65-37 over Ginninderra Rats and the men 93-58 over arch rivals Tuggeranong Vikings.

On Thursday night the Division 2 women, who finished the season with an amazing winning run to make the grand final, having been in 6th place 2 weeks before the finals, went down 37-67 to a very strong Queanbeyan Roadrunners outfit.  This was followed by the Wests Black Division 2 men's team overcoming Tuggeranong Vikings 81-68.

Senior Men and Women Win Premier Division 1 Titles

Wednesday 10 October 2012 - the Wests Magpies Premier Division 1 mens and womens teams were both sucessful in taking out the Chamionship Season titles, with both teams defeating Tuggeranong Vikings.  After a slow start the women were never troubled winning 68-55, while the men took the first three quarters to get on top of their opposition before scoring an emphatic 90-63 victory.
