Fundraising Event for Elijah Arranz

Dear Rat Club Members

As you know A few weeks ago one of our junior players, Elijah Arranz was injured in a skydiving accident.  Will Cooper wanted to do something to help Elijah to recover as quickly as possible.  As Elijah is someone who has already shown his willingness to help others, and Will felt it was only fitting that we should do something for him in his hour of need.

With Basketball taking a break over Christmas, the opportunity was there to put on an event that would raise money for the Arranz family.

So Will has arranged a 24 hour basketball event at the Belconnen Basketball Stadium.  It is intended as a family oriented event with games going for the full 24 hours.  A dunk contest, a three point shootout and a basketball skills event.

How to be involved:

Please go to this web page to register players and volunteers https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/ballin-for-eli-tickets-19876585402

Teams can register by age group, or be of mixed age, be boys teams or girls team or mixed teams.  The cost to register a team is $50, with a minimum of 5 players, and no maximum.  Games will run for 55 minutes.  Individuals can also register and we will combine them into teams, to play once we have enough registrations.  You can also register for the other events through the website.

If you want to register to help out, there will be a range of jobs that you can register your interest for, including Referees, Supervision, BBQ, Front door.

We have already had many kind offers of support and I would like to thank Basketball ACT, Café 2617 (who have offered to keep the kiosk open for coffee and food during the event as well as promoting the event in a range of ways).

We will keep you informed by sending out updates as we get closer to the event.  If you have any questions or want out find out more please contact Adam Cooper on 0466695841.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
