LEVEL “0” REFEREE COURSE

LEVEL “0” REFEREE COURSE

DATE:                         Saturday, 16th October, 2010

TIME:                          2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

VENUE:                      Donaldson Stadium, Port Pirie

COST:                        No charge (NB. If more than 10 people attend, the Association is not charged)

PARTICIPATION:      This course is open to not only those people (minimum age: Year 8 student in 2010) who have not gained a Level 0 Referee accreditation, but also current referees who are graded either Level “0” already or above. The purpose if this is that current referees could gain an insight into how to improve their capabilities, seek answers to queries that they already have and to learn some of the current and new approaches, rationales and methodologies behind officiating

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BRING:

·         Drink bottle

·         Pen

·         Paper

·         Whistle

·         Suitable clothing to do some light fitness

PLEASE NOTE:         It would be beneficial that participants have an understanding of the FIBA rules                              before they attend this course. The new rule book can be downloaded from the                             FIBA website (www.fiba.com) by selecting the Inside FIBA section and then                               going to Rules, Regulations and Other docs Downloads and selecting Official                                 Basketball Rules 2008.

It is expected that participants make themselves available to umpire games           during the following season. With this on-court experience, participants are     then able to put into practice the knowledge that they have been taught and    could look to achieve further accreditation through actively officiating games.
