Quake entered 11 teams in this year's State Titles and achieved its best results in many years. A brief summary of how each team fared follows.

The club entered teams in the 10, 11, 12, 16 Boys, Youth Men & Men and the 12, 14, 16 Girls & Women competitions. We had 3 teams play in finals with 2 winning the title, 3 teams making semis and 2 teams making the quarter finals. Considering the schedule and the heat of Sunday this was a fantastic effort by all the players.

The 10 Boys won 2 of their 3 group games comfortably but were beaten by eventual finalists Coasties to finish 2nd in the group and didn't progress to the semi-finals. A great effort considering their limited preparation.

The 11 Boys had 2 wins, a draw and a narrow 1-0 defeat in their pool games and progressed to the quarter finals and went down narrowly 1-2 to go out of the tournament. Again, a fantastic performance with limited preparation.

The Campbelltown 40 Winks 12 Boys won 2 of their 3 pool games handily and lost to eventual champions Inner West Orange in the quarter finals. Again this was a composite team and the boys did well make the finals.

JR Electrical's 12 Girls were simply outstanding winning all 4 pool games and then finishing strongly to win a closely contested quarter final. Every girl played good minutes in the tournament and they all scored at least 2 goals. Their semi-final performance was magnificent, racing out to an early 2 goal lead against hot favourites Inner West Magic before Princess Ibin Isei dominated by scoring 5 goals. The girls kept fighting and had a goal that clearly crossed the line not given and eventually lost 2-6. A fantastic team performance.

Jimmy Gilligan's Capital Steel Buildings Southwest 14 Boys won all 3 pool games then knocked off the favoured Rangers team 3-1 in the quarters before losing to eventual champions Mountain Majik 1-2 in the semi-final. They played well and had their chances but just fell short this year.

The Clintons Toyota 14 Girls didn't have luck on their side with 1 win, 2 heartbreaking 1 goal losses and a tired effort in the last pool game with a depleted squad. Krstina Sekulic picked up an injury on Saturday and we hope that she recovers quickly.

Danny Martinez's Einhell Australia 16 Boys would have considered themselves one of the favourites to win the title but played nowhere near their best losing 2 of the 3 pool games and being knocked out early on Saturday.

Macarthur Granite & Marble's 16 Girls showed everyone that they are on their way back to where they should be by dominating the tournament winning all 6 of their games and beating arch rivals Mascot Vipers 4-2 in the final.

The A.H. Beard Youth team threw the form book out of the window and topped their group by remaining undefeated and comfortably winning their quarter final. They were 0-2 down in the semi-final, lost a player through a second yellow card but scored a shorthanded goal to get back into the game. Unfortunately a defensive mistake cost them a 3rd goal and they finished an otherwise terrific tournament with a 1-3 loss.

Bella Arts Graphic Design's Women made the final again this year winning their pool easily. But by the time of the final, with key players not being available due to other commitments, the girls were drained and didn't have enough left in the tank to beat their nemesis and went down 1-3 to Sydney City. This was their first loss of the season and they can be proud of their efforts to date.

And the surprise result of the entire tournament was the United Tools Liverpool Men dominating every game they played and winning the title with a relatively comfortable 6-4 win in the final against Crusaders. Borgy and Carlos played the squad in 2 shifts of 4 and they played a style of game that suited the smaller courts they played on. It was after this tournament last year that the Men went on the roll that saw them make the finals and here's hoping they will do the same this year. All credit to the lads on a fantastic display and it was good to see them enjoying themselves so much.
