Quake Teams Make Finals Of State Titles

Unlucky Not To Win 2 Titles

The FNSW State Titles are over for another year and the Club aquitted itself well over the 2 days.  All the teams should be proud of their efforts and for the manner in which they represented themselves and the Club.

The Club made 2 Finals, 3 Semi-Finals and 2 Quarter Final but didn't quite grab the major honours.

Well done to the 14 Boys who played some outstanding futsal to make the final only to fall just short against a physically bigger side who played to their strenghts.  They staged a magnificent comeback in the final minutes but just couldn't get the equaliser they deserved.

And our Women came oh so close dominating their final and leading 2-0 with minutes to play only to lose 2-3 after some defensive lapses.

The 14 Girls made the semis but were beaten by similar tactics used to beat the 14 Boys and couldn't really get into the game to showcase their skills.

The Academy team continued their improvement and they were able to compete well and make the quarters in the 10 Boys group.

Our Men were magnificent playing under strength all weekend with combinations chopping and changing from match-to-match.  They were seconds away from the final only to cop an equaliser when Sydney City played the 5th man and then lost to a golden goal in extra time.  They didn't deserve that and can hold their heads high for their 110% efforts.

Our 16 Boys battled on well after copping injuries and suspensions to key players and looked like making the final only to run out of gas in the 2nd half of the semi to an opponent they were comfortably leading at half time.  Again, not a fitting ending to their tournament.

The Youth men made the Quarter Finals and looked on track to steamroll into the final but copped 4 goals in 5 minutes to fall behind to arch rivals Inner West but then equalised with the last kick of the game.  But unfortunatley Quake were on the wrong end of another golden goal and the tournament was over for our boys.

Our other younger age groups played well and, more importantly, picked up valuable experience and we should see the benefit of them playing in these Titles over the coming weeks.

So, no titles but a all-in-all a good weekend for the Club.

Congratulations to all those who participated and don't forget State Team trials are being held next week at Windsor.
