Pivot wins club championships

For the first time since 1998, a club outside of Ballarat has won the coveted Max Bowman Shield. In a dominant performance, Geelong Pivot City were clear winners of the Shield from the highly fancied Ballarat Celtic Tigers.

Pivot City now join the Bendigo Aztec Tigers as 5 time champions, the second highest, since the inception of the Shield in 1977. Pivot City's, Craig Porte was presented with the Max Bowman Shield at the conclusion of a very succesful weekend of club basketball.

The Max Bowman Shield is awarded to the Club, based on teams entered, pool wins and titles won. Pivot City led from the front with a solid Saturday across all age groups. Pivot won the under 12 boys and girls titles, under 14 boys and were runner up (by one point) in under 16 girls.

This couldn't have been achieved without all teams competing and our great coaches that lead these teams so wonderfully Brendon Matthews, Murray Lovell, Tim O'Leary, Rob Aherne, Jason Reardon, Bruce Waldron, Kevin McBain and Penny Tucker.

The BVC Club Championship is an opportunity for domestic basketball teams to compete for their Club and attempt to become the best Club team in Country Victioria.
