U10 The BMK U10s travelled to Greygums Oval to take on the Penrith Reds team. Under perfect football conditions both teams fought hard for the ball, demonstrating skill and fair play. The Kangaroos continued playing team football as they shared the ball around, with Jye Palise seeing a lot of it in the first quarter. Griffen Burgess was strong in defence as was Cameron Fenner. Although out-scored over the course of the day, the Kangaroos gained in confidence as the game progressed, with Liam Ryan and Lachlan Leaf teaming up well to create many forward opportunities. The stand out player for the match was Thomas Tritton, whose work at ground level and under the packs was outstanding.
U12 Black The A Pool U12s played against a well drilled Crow unit at Cook Park for Round 5, a tall St Clair team that showed strong signs of its 08 class which had it holding top spot all last season. The Kangaroos had a slow start and, while gradually improving their performance quarter by quarter, today they seemed to lack the drive required to give the Crows a run for their money. With only 13 players available to play there were no fresh legs, making the field seem a little longer and little wider but as always, there are positives that come out of a loss. The team continues to bond with its mix of experienced and first season players and they are to be commended for never dropping their heads when the going got tough. Consistent play by Connor Browne saw him take Man of the Match and serious mileage on the ground gave Jack Bragg the Best Effort award. Seb Camilleri kicked the only major, while Ashton Hogan (0-2), Thomas Moore (0-1) and Mark Noney (0-1) took on the tall timber for shots at goal. Thanks to Thomas Moore for playing up for numbers today.
Final score Roos 1-4-10 def by St Clair Crows 7-9-51.
U12 White A big thankyou to BMCC for getting the vandalised AFL posts replaced and ready for the Kangaroo v Bombers clash at Tom Hunter Park on Saturday. Thank you also to the strong parent support in this team. The Kangaroos clicked into gear quickly on their home ground and all players figured in this strong win against Quakers Hill. Carlton Bernays continued to show great promise, keeping the pace and attacking the goals with 3 majors while Matthew Field also put in another strong performance, also kicking 3 majors. Max Bragg (1-5), Sean Talavera (1-2), Patrick Malone (1-0), Sam West (1-0) and Thomas Pepper (1-0) ensured the Roos kept heading in the right direction and good supportive team play by all shows that this side has the right attitude for the season. Man of the Match went to Wilson Dowling. All team members are doing an awesome job and while what goes through the posts puts the win on the board, the team that feeds the ball to the goal kickers ensures the win. Well done! Final score: 12-15-81 def Bombers 4-7-31.
12 Blue played the Hills Lions at Doyle Park. The Lions got away to an early lead with their ruckman and centre plays working well. The Kangas defence had to run hard all game with Kye Gordon, Hugo MacBean and Matthew Wilson doing all that was asked of them. Two goals to Plugger DeLaMare in the middle quarters however the team was not able to convert some other good chances in front of goal. Good efforts by Thomas Moore, Jeb Burton and Jack Maidment in the ruck against some tall timber. Final scores: - Mountains 2-6-18 def by Hills 9-3-57
U14 The u14s headed to the large Greygums Oval on Saturday to take on the Penrith Swans. Under a sensational blue sky the boys got away to a slower than expected start and were tied down in the first quarter with only 2 goals. After some slight positional changes the Roos started to gain more ball and peppered the goals, however accuracy cost them a massive half time lead booting 3 goals and 7 behinds in the second. The third qtr was again slow, lacking the fast run and carry the team has shown over the last few weeks, and also saw the Swans kick their first goal for the day. Heading into the final term with a 50 point lead, the Roos put the pace back on kicking 6 goals to finish the day winners 14.14.98 def 1.2.8.
The goals were again shared around the group, with 9 different scorers lead by Brad Camilleri with 3, and 2 each to Kade Kelly, Samuel Hunt and Ben Skinner. Again some notable efforts by Oliver Morley-Sattler, James Martland, Matt Ruki down back and Aidan Quicke with some great marks under pressure. The Roos return home on Saturday 16th, for what will be a big day for the club.
U16 played Campbelltown at Monarch Oval. This had the potential to be a great game as both teams had similar results going into the match. Campbelltown started best with good centre clearances and a fast midfield generating a twenty point lead at quarter time. The second quarter saw the Roos effort lift with Logan Johnstone, Brendan Reed, Harry Doyle and James DeMattia getting the ball into the forwards. Goals to Patrick Foote, Nathan West and Zac Watson levelled the scores by half time. Some favourable match-ups in the second half saw Billy Nicholson, Paul Benson and Jesse Hyland winning ball and Bowen VanDerVoort booting two goals. Joseph Hunt led hard all game with brother Samuel supplying from some fantastic crumbing. Best game to date by Alex Browne who found holes in the Campbelltown defence while the courageous Aidan Noney won a pivotal free kick in the third term. Three quarter time had the Roos behind by five points and both teams looked spent. Notable in the back half was the kick-outs by Nicholas Senti and the talented half back line of Lachlan Cox, Hamish Lees and Tim Jones. These guys lifted throughout the game and inspired their team mates to a thrilling victory. Final Scores Roos 6-13-49 def Campbelltown 6-9-45.
