Whilst it was Hawkesbury and Penrith that received the silverware on Saturday, The Lions volunteers received the accolades for their enormous effort in getting the Grand Final past the post.
The "big day in September" was subject to a last minute change of venue with Dukes Oval being underwater and with the brilliant help of Holroyd-Parramatta Goanna's John O'Loughlin, the game was transferred to Gipps Rd Sporting Complex.
The day certainly came alive in the final match, the Under 16's came within a whisker of grabbing back-to-back premierships and only three points separated the teams when the final siren sounded. Almost a miracle victory for a team that started the season with only twelve players.
