JUNIOR CLUB HISTORY
Established in 1883, Newcastle City Football Club is one of the oldest, largest and most progressive AFL clubs in the Hunter region. In 1948 Carlton Football Club gave permission for the use of its club uniform and provided a handsome trophy for the club's Best and Fairest Player. Right from the start, junior football was a priority - the Club Secretary in 1948 undertook to coach a Newcastle East School team on the Watt Street Hospital Grounds.
The club's home ground is Newcastle No.1 Sportsground. Newcastle's historic equivalent of the SCG, MCG or WACA, the ground is located in the inner city and is also home to our modern new clubhouse. As a Junior Sporting Club, we are very fortunate to play on such a premier oval and have access to the first class facilities.
2019 saw the club field teams in every grade in the junior and competitions - Boys U9, U11, U13, U15, U17, Youth Girls U12, U14 & U17.
Both junior and senior teams have won many premierships over the years and we are one of the most successful Australian Football Clubs in the Newcastle Region.
The Junior Clubs focus is on family and community partnerships. Enabling every child to reach his or her potential, sporting or social, while having loads of fun with Aussie Rules.
