The local competition season usually starts in late March/early April with the Grand Final being held in early September.
Pre-season training starts in February for all teams.

Newcastle City Junior AFC is one of the largest and most progressive junior AFL clubs in the Hunter region. Players are placed into teams according to their age, with Newcastle City Junior AFC represented in all age divisions and we also run a Newcastle City Auskick program.

Players range in age from 5 to 8 years for Auskick and ages 8 to 17 years for competition level fixtures.
Our club provides players with the opportunity to develop and continue playing AFL in our club colours with representation at the senior level in the AFL Hunter Coast for men and women.
