The Eagles hosted the Shellharbour Swans at Reed Park today. At the start of the day the dark grey clouds had us worried but they were mostly pushed north along the escarpment for most of the morning.
It was a strange day as there were still a lot of absentees, reflected by a low turnout to training again this week. Not sure what the story was today, illness or fear of the weather?? And to top it off half of those who turned up had to leave after Auskick to do other things, so we were short of helpers today.
The auskickers had a good time, Ethan McManus earned the trophy for the week for his efforts in creating leads and general play. Well done Ethan.
The Under 9's were low in numbers again and facing a much older team, so a scratch match was agreed to where both Swans and Eagles were divided into 2 teams and then mixed together. The game was going fairly well until the rain finally hit us just before half time. Not sure who was moving quickest, the players after the ball or the spectators running for their cars. The game was called off at half time on request, and as Murphy would have it before the last car left the carpark the rain had stopped and we had great weather for the next 40 minutes.
Best for the Eagles players were Alec Steele, Michael Pearce, Blake Keenan. well done boys.
