Whilst on field success has been very much a priority at Royals the wellbeing of the players and members has been just as important since our inception
Royals Football & Sporting Club started out as Air Training Corps During WWll in 1944 to give the youth still at home the opportunity to play football. The people who formed the club had a desire to not only succeed on the field but to also help people in their everyday lives helping to find employment and in some cases even finding a meal when needed.
As the war ended people’s lives returned to more normality, the players were older and the name of the club inevitably changed to Royals which has since grown to be what it is today.
Royals were the second Football club outside the metropolitan area to obtain a liquor license for our home of 45 odd years at Centennial Oval where there was always plans to move and redevelop the oval down in front of the clubhouse. The building became worn out and eventually demolished. It has been the venue of many premierships, good times and tall stories that got taller as time went on. Its use by date came and it has since been demolished.
In 2017 Royals moved into our new home a $11,000,000- facility with a state of the art clubhouse and oval out the front as planned all those years beforehand. A facility planned and shared with the Albany Football Club that will take Royals well into the future.
The traditions created back in 1944 are still very much a part of our club’s culture and we are very proud to have been able to pass that culture down from those that created it all those years ago.
Having won 34 League Premierships, a number of Reserves and junior premierships Royals still thrives on helping our youth and members, enjoy on field success, gain employment and look after their wellbeing. We are always on the lookout for career opportunities and thankful of any help you may be able to give us. To be a part of any club is to contribute and your contribution on and off the field is very much appreciated.
