The Jacana Football Club was founded in 1961 as a junior club fielding just an Under 15s team, and it wasn't until 1965 that the Senior team was established and the club was also able to field teams in every age group.
The Jacana Pavilion was opened on July 9, 1966 by Mayor J.A. Culpin and a purple gurnsey represented by a gold JFC monogram was used to distinguish the club.
In the early 1990's, the Jacana Football Club became known as the Broadmeadows United Football Club, and its playing gurnsey was changed to a gold vee on the front. In 1997, the club returned to be known as the Jacana Football Club while maintaining the gold vee gurnsey. In 2007 the club reverted back to its original gurnsey of the gold JFC monogram.
The Jacana Football Club has competed in various competitions such as the Y.C.W, the Northern Metropolitan Football League (N.M.F.L), as well as the Preston and District Junior Football Assossiation (P.D.J.F.A). Then in 1986 the Club participated in the Riddell District Football League (R.D.F.L), where it tasted Premiership success for the third time, defeating the more fancied Wallan 14.12 (96) to 11.11 (77).
In 2001, the Jacana Football Club joined the Essendon District Football League (E.D.F.L) where it is still participating in today. The decision to join the EDFL allowed the club to increase its junior base and the Jaguars were formed. The Club now boasts a teams from Under 10s right through to Seniors as well as a Youth Girls team, and in 2012 we welcome a Womens team.
