What a welcome to A.K.Lines the Seniors gave Lower last week ! Switch on and run away was the theme of the afternoon after half time - but the second quarter was really the highlight where the boys were down BUT NOT OUT ! We all bore witness to the ability to come from behind then carry on with the surge. It is a good sign for the weeks ahead....the team now has evidence that despite being behind on the scoreboard, it IS possible to turn things around through perserverance and sticking to the game plan.
Well done to Ryan Hay - just kept on going all day to wear down and out run any Bear given the job to take him on. Early in the game Benn Parker crashed the packs and made the opponents pay for the rest of the game. Trev had some mercy late in the game giving Benn the last few minutes on the bench...the relief on the Lower Plenty players faces was obvious. Good to see Clarkey in some form too but it was distinctive team effort - well done Wats.
Rezzies went down, much to the frustration of the Watsy crowd after looking pretty good early....the cliche' premiership quarter has been our sticking point but the positive side to this is that each week we are seeing a good mix of players getting their names in our best - this week was no exception and well done to Wayne Henry, Tommy Grogan and Jake Sluiter. Of course the stalwarts, Ocean, Webby and Flipper were always in it.
Under 19's were hurt by a 12 goal drubbing and should learn that playing the way they did last week will always end up in pain....Dean, Bill, Dale and Roland are there for you.....the solution would be to listen to their instructions, seek their advice, ask for their help and always, always, enjoy yourselves.
