Another big weekend's action to wrap up, where to start?
Saturday Morning is a great place, Our Auskick programme started up again under the guidance of Luke Vincitorio. With over 70 Boys and girls involved on the first day, it was great to see so many future champions on display. Still plenty of time to register if you know someone wanting to join.
We’ll jump to Sunday and our teams on the road.
9 Yellow made the trip to Mernda for their 1st away game of the year, they backed up the 1st round display with yet another great display of footy, lots of great skills on display and everyone having great fun.
The 10’s headed to Susan St for a clash with Eltham, with the Panthers proving to be a very tough opponent, our kids toughed it out right to the final siren.
Daryl and his band of under 12 had the pleasure of heading out to South Morang for an early 8.30 kick off, in a tight tussle the other team proved just that little bit too good on the day, the feedback was very positive as these kids continue to listen and learn expect some exciting footy. .
While the Under 14’s took a packed lunch for the long trip out to Wallan, the boys again put on a great display of team footy and came away with an impressive victory.
On the home front, 9 Blue took to the top oval to take on Laurimar, another impressive display here, not sure what Alex put in the water bottles at half time, but these kids rocked in the second half, they were followed onto the oval by Graeme and the under 11s. Yet another tight tussle ensured with Monty getting the chocolates on the field, while our mums and dads got the cake of it…
Next up the 16 Girls, who showed great fighting Rooster spirt to come from behind and beat Monty by less than a kick, a great result well done.
On the main oval, Gino and the 13’s had a hard contest against Laurimar, fighting it out till the end, but the teal proved too strong on the day.
This was followed by the 14 Girls, a very impressive outfit this one, they were clinical in dismantling Diamond Creek Women’s. If you get a chance watch these girls play it’s very entertaining.
Next up the 15 boys. Matthew is doing a great job with these lad’s a very impressive display against South Morang winning by over 200 points, imagine what if could have been if not for the 27 behinds kicked!
The day wound up with the 16 Boys taking on an impressive Monty outfit. Our boys never gave up and battled it out to the end, but Mont ran out comfortable winners, Keep listening to the coach boys and it will turn around.
That’s the Sunday wrap, Back to Saturday.
I’ll start with next week, the big boys head to Northcote Park to take on the Cougars get along if you can for a great day out.
Saturday saw a spirted display from our young under 19’s, when they can put 4 quarters together the wins will come for these boys, while the Reserves and Seniors recorded very impressive victory’s to remain undefeated after two rounds.
Unfortunately as I write this it is with a heavy heart and the football results don’t really matter, following the passing of Patrick Cronin a young man who played his last game of Football at our ground on Saturday afternoon.
Patrick tragically lost his life following a Cowards Punch on Saturday night while out with Friends
Our deepest condolences go out to Patrick's family and all concerned at the Lower Plenty and Research Football Clubs at this very sad time.
Celebrate Life Every Day.
