Thomastown were keen to wipe out the memory of their second half fade out against Lower Plenty in Round 3 and went in to the game at Lower Plenty with the one change with Chris Zurek returning from injury and Chris Belbasis missing out.
A tight tussle was expected as both teams commenced the game, Thomastown was first on the board with a snap from Nedelkovski and then a pass from Scwabl to Tinker saw Thomastown get their second. Not to be outdone Lower Plenty then got consecutive goals and with a third took the lead half way through the opening term. Goals to Rachrache and Holmes saw Thomastown go to the quarter time break down by a goal. Thomastown 4.4.28 Lower Plenty 5.4.34.
The second quarter saw Thomastown able to open up the Lower Plenty defence while the Thomastown defence were able to repel any attacks from the Lower Plenty side. Holmes and Nedelkovski were the atrgets up foward and the Thomastown mid field and half forwards were able to take advantage, with Folino, Abela and Berak getting amongst the goals. Holmes took the highlight of the quarter with a screamer in front of the Thomastown supporters reliving his younger days when they were more prevalant. At half time Thomastown were able to keep Lower Plenty scoreless for the term and had moved out to a 23 point lead. Thomastown 8.9.57 Lower Plenty 5.4.34.
Lower Plenty got off to a good start in the third term whe they were able to get the opening two goals of the quarter. Thomastown was able to respond through Calafiore and Volpe to maintain their half time lead. In a tight quarter Lower Plenty wasted a few opportunities to eat in to the Thomastown lead kicking 5.7 for the quarter to Thomastown's 4.4 to trail Thomastown at the last break by 14 points. Thomastown were determined to hold off the Lower Plenty challenge, with the defence working tirelessly to continualy repel and set up attacks with their run, Rachrache was able to keep the run going off his wing and gave ample drive into the forward line. Thomastown finished the final quarter with 5 goals to Lower Plenty's 3 to run out victors by 25 points and put themselves within one more victory of a top two finish. Holmes 3, Calafiore 2, Folino 2, Rachrache 2 and Jason Abela 2 were the main goal scorers while the best were Millane, Manley, Rachrache and McDonald.
The Reserves suffered a second consecutive loss going down to Lower Plenty by 49 points.Mazza with 3 goals was the main contributor, and the best were Chesher, Mazza, Vitiritti and Belbasis.
In a good game of football the Under 19's were able to come from behind to snatch a 1 point victory over Lower Plenty. With scores level at quarter and half time, Lower plenty lead by a point at three quarter time and were able to lead by 11 points with 5 minutes to go. Credit to the Under 19's who didn't give in and to give Jayden Zurek a win in his final game for the the club before he joins the army. Whittingslow and Horman kicked 3 each and Raykovski 2, while best were Sam Osei-Duro, Horman, Stavridis and Whittingslow.
