Epping had first use of the breeze to the Main St End of the ground, which was probably a 5 to 6 goal breeze. Willets had Epping up and going early in the quarter with the first goal of the match. The early part of the match saw Thomastown defending doggedly and trying to run the ball into the breeze, Epping kept forcing the ball forward and were able to be repelled on numerous occassions by McDonald, Collins and Horman. The mid field were also working hard as they went back to give the assistance to the backs. Epping were able to get another goal before golas to Manley and Volpe got Thomastown to a 1 point lead at quarter time.
The second quarter commenced with Thomastown struggling to use the wind to any great effect. Epping were utilising a spare man in defence to block up the hole and Thomastown were unable to penetrate. For the second half of the term Thomastown were able to put a bit of breathing space between themselves and Epping, kicking six golas and keeping Epping scoreless to go in at half time 8.8.56 to Epping 2.3.15.
The third term was similar to the first with Epping struggling to come to terms with the strong breeze and unable to make any inroads into the Thomastown lead. Both teams managed 2 goals for the quarter with Epping only able to decreae the half time lead by 3 points.
The final quarter saw Thomastown stretch its lead out to beyond 12 goals before Epping were able to get 3 late goals, to cut the final winning margin back to 57 points. Two goals each to Nedelkovski, Manley and Volpe were the main contributors, while the best were Rachrache, Collins, Spiroski and Wall.
The Reserves were able to defeat top placed Epping by 35 points. First use of the breeze and then a tight second quarter kept them in the lead and a 6 goal third quarter put the game out of Epping's reach. Dinatale 3 and Chesher 2 goals were the main contributors and the best were Cauchi, Chesher, Mazza and Chapkoun.
The Under 19's were able to produce a barnstorming finish to defeat Mernda by 15 points. Trailling by 50 points at three quarter time the team were able to kick 10.9 to Merndas 1.2 for the quarter to run over the top and complete the stunning victory.
