Thomastown who were second on the ladder met top placed Whittlesea in Round 10. In for Thomastown were Capeci, McDonald, Millane and Curcio, while Ishkan, Tinker, Nicholas Horman and Sean Abela went out.
Thomastown opened the game the quicker of the two and took advantage of the Holmes ruck work with Berak and Folino giving the Thomastown forwards the first use of the ball. Schwabl was first to score followed by Curcio, Capeci and Nedelkovski getting Thomastown out to an early four goal lead. Whittlesea then started to push players behind the ball in an event to stop the Thomastown run. Whittlesea were next on the board before Curcio put another on the board for the bears, Whittlesea were able to get a late goal to go in at quarter time trailling Thomastown by 19 points.
The secong term saw Whittlesea reduce the margin with two goals before Thomastown rebounded with a goal to Petkovski. The game was becoming a tight contest with both teams trying to get their running game going in the slippery conditions. Whittlesea took the lead late in the term before Scwabl with a trade mark floater gave Thomastown a 2 point lead at half time.
Thomastown started to pepper the goals at the start of the third term but were unable to convert in front of goal while Whittlesea were making the most of their oppoprtunities with two goals to get out to a 9 point lead. A mark and goal from Wall got Thomastown back to within three points and at the next bounce took the tap from Holmes to kick a bouncing goal from the centre square to give Thomastown back the lead. Whittlesea responded with the next goal before Berak replied for Thomastown. At three quarter time scores were level.
The final quarter started with Whittlesea breaking the dead lock with a behind before a goal on the run to Curcio gave Thomastown the lead and a bit of momentum. From there on Whittlsea were able to kick the next four golas to get out to a 21 point lead half way through the term. Nedelkovski got one back for Thomastown but it was not enough to help Thomastown get back into the game as Whittlesea were able to kick another three goals to run out victors by 34 points. Curcio with 3 goals, two each to Scwabl, Wall and Nedelkovski were the main goal kickers. Good players for Thomastown were McDonald, Holmes, Wall, Berak and Abela.
The Reserves put in a fairly ordinary performance to go down to Whittlesea by 72 points. Two goals each to Fleming, Plant and Virgona, while Vitiritti, Cauchi, Scott and Eddington were better players for Thomastown.
The Under 19's were defeated by Whittlesea by 41 points. After giving Whittlesea a five goal start they were able to get back to within 15 points early in the last quarter before allowing Whittlesea to kick away at the end. Sam Osei-Duro with 2 goals was the main contributor while Higgins, Tinker, bektash and Dalle Nogare were the better players.
