Hi All,
I'm not too sure if the footy season ever actually finishes, but we held our AGM last Thursday which is in essence the last official football meeting of the year. And, as far as AGM's go, it was a very good one and pleasingly very well attended.
As you'd all know, the AGM is a chance for the club to present to our members the performance of the club for the year (both generally and financially) and a chance for members to ask questions of the committee on any areas of concern; provide feedback (good and bad) and importantly vote on club matters as and if required including voting on nominations for spilled committee positions.
This year, apart from the Football Operations role, all current committee members have been re-appointed back into their roles, so I'd like to thank each one of them for once again committing their time to growing our great club.
Therefore it brings me to the Football Operations role, and with great pleasure I'd like to congratulate and welcome Simon Mills onto the committee in the Football Operations role. "Millsy" has already committed his time to the club in various capacities over the last couple of years including an instrumental role on our Footy Ops sub-committee, Coach of our Supers teams and assistant coach in his son’s junior team. It was a natural progression for Millsy to take the next step and we're very much looking forward to working more closely with him over the coming year (Millsy, that starts in a couple of weeks :-).
I'd also like to thank Dave Richards who put his hand up for the role. While not successful this time around, "Richo" has been a valuable contributor to the club already with his tireless efforts bringing our top age teams together (U13's and 14's) and as coach of the sides over the last two years. And as a general committee member this year, I'll certainly be extending a welcome to Richo if he chooses to take up that role again.
To Matt Collins - Matt stepped down from the Footy Ops role this year after a couple of years in which time he introduced a couple of very important policies for the club - Coaching & Grading. He also implemented the Family nights that we all enjoy, and has been a coach of our U13 side last year with Richo and coach of our U14 Teal side this year. So again, "Collo", on behalf of the committee we thank you very much for your contribution.
Lastly, I hope the pattern of these guys is clear? They've all contributed their time to the club in a number of different ways which ultimately makes the club better for it. I'd encourage every one of you to consider a role no matter how small or large as it is very rewarding when you think about the end result…..kids simply enjoying a game of footy!
Keep an eye out in the couple of weeks as we'll be putting together some key sub-committee roles we'd love to have filled heading into next year and we'd love to see some fresh faces giving it a go.
Thanks & Regards,
Alasdair – President, LFC.
