A big crowd was on hand for Friday Night footy at Newcomen Road to witness the season opener. The pace was furious from the start, but it was Clayton that was able to maintain intensity for longer periods. Brendan was in everything across half back with Wellsy also prominent. Gav's three majors were a highlight, as was the workrate of Bongo and John McMurray. In the end it was Clayton by 6 goals. There is much room for improvement and the boys were far from disgraced.
The reserves als went down by 15 points after a brave fight. Lukas Bray was exceptional for the home side, and was well supported by Piggy, G, Mark Riley and a young upstart by the name of Burns. Special mention also to Hughesy for his three goals. Thanks to blokes that filled in especially big Nev Sketcher returning after a lengthy absence
