We went down to Chelsea Heights in a tight battle on Saturday. Our work in the first quarter defending against a stiff breeze was first class, Holding Chelsea Heights to three goals. Andrew Do and Brad Dight grabbed valuable goals into the wind.
We made the running in the second term but didn’t capitalise on the board. Todd Wills and Tristan Potts kept the board ticking over and we took a slender lead into half time.
The scoring didn’t get easier in the second half, Lachy Morrey(below) bagged two majors into the wind in the third stanza. We had our chances in the last quarters but the visitors defended well. We fell agonisingly short by a meagre 2 points.
Matty Ork and Billy Green were terrific in defence. Brad Dight gave everything around the ground and Todd Wills continued his good form. Andrew Do provided a great target in an unfamiliar role up forward. Matt Thompson was also back to some form, providing plenty of drive.
Lacey’s Lads continued on their merry way, accounting for the bad guys by 4 goals. The coach helped himself to four whilst Justin Lim bagged three. Dan Barret, Luke Wenke, Cam McLeod and Lem were among the best. Great to see Sonny back on the park after a horrible injury last year.
