We flew out of the blocks against Murrumbeena, piling on seven first quarter goals with the aid of the breeze. Matt Torcasio was proving a handful whilst skipper Matt Thompson also got on the board playing on a very good player.
We defended reasonably against the breeze although the visitors inaccuracy counted against them. Our third term was poor, scoring only 2 points and conceding 2 majors against the breeze. The last quarter against the breeze was like trying to hold the ocean back with a broom as Beena had repeat entries into the 50.
Our effort was much improved with the skipper, Peter Heng, Shelton Rosaria, Matthew Ork and Jason Huljak amongst the best. Jackson Bolch worked hard to provide a target up forward.
Lacey’s lads had outlasted Murrumbeena to record a plucky with. We trailed narrowly at every break but finished strongly on the breeze, slamming home 4 goals and keeping the bad gutsy to one solitary behind.
It was great to see Box Head back and among the best. Liam Hamilton continues to improve and was among the best along with the consistent Frank Costantino and Adam Norman. Cam McLeod slotted four, Pasq Torcasio kicked two whilst Lace, Sanga, Box Head, Ritha and the enigmatic Nutbags kicked one each.
