We fell short against the pace setters Keysborough in front of a large crowd on Saturday. Perfect conditions greeted the players which played into the hands of the visitors marking targets.
Our first quarter effort was pleasing and we probably didn’t get reward for effort. The same couldn’t be said for the next quarters as concentration lapses saw us surrender 6 goals and take a sizable deficit into the main break. To the boys credit the effort did not fall away in the second half. We were outgunned by a better side on the day. Peter Heng, Matt Thompson, Lachie Morrey, Billy Green and Brad Dight were among the better players along with Lachy Dunne who slotted three goals.
We paid a heavy price at the weekend, losing Sonny for what looks like an extended period. Get well soon.
The reserves showed a complete form reversal from the week before,. To hold a side of the Keysborough calibre goaless for the first half was a great effort. We had the game in our keeping at half time and were able to finish our good work. Matt Devereaux, Tyson Bramble, Dan Barret, Cam McLeod, Bard Wilson and Monas were among the best. Benny Williams kicked three majors.
