Our lads hung on in a thriller against Highett. We welcomed a host of new faces, Tristan Potts, James Gough, Mitch Latimer, Lachie Morrey, Lachie Dunne, Ben Stacey, Hugh Cullen-Scholes and Sonny Jayasinghe to the Demons line up.
Little more than a goal separated the teams at any of the breaks and last quarter was tight. We had squandered some good chances early on bet found our range in the second half. Our forwards shared the load with James Gough, Mitch Latimer, Ben Stacey and Lachie Morrey all kicking multiples. Danny Wilson picked up from last years form and consistently provided first use of the ball from the ruck contests. Sunny started well enough to earn himself a tag and continued to be dangerous.
Its always nice get the points in round one after a long season. With a host of new faces combining with the old, it is an exciting time ahead.
The reserves also welcomed new faces in Larry Leeming, Frank Costantino, Jason Huljak, Liam Hamilton, Nick Duff and Luke Stuart. We battled well for most of the match but were outlasted by the hosts.Coach Chris Lacey kicked five in his return to Demons colours.
