The lads found some late season form, beating the finals bound Caulfield for the second time this season. A better preparation led to a better start and an even first term. We had the better of the second term and probably didn’t get just reward for our efforts, scoring 3 goals and four behinds for the stanza.
The Bears hit back early in the third term and threatened to run over the top, but they were also victims of some inaccuracy. Some strong marking and straight kicking from Clint Brooks steadied the ship and we took a 10 point lead into the final term.
It would prove to be a dour struggle as goals were hard to come by despite the pristine conditions. Caulfield cut the lead to three points before Paul Norman kicked a clutch goal from a free kick. Fittingly, it was skipper Gav Vassallo that sank the bears with long range bomb, which bounced the way only Gav can make a ball bounce.
The skipper was outstanding despite copping a nasty knock in the last quarter. Jason Adams had his best outing in senior footy whilst Kris Merz reminded us all what a good player he is. Mr. Consistent Danny Wilson gave us first use in the ruck, Benny Laier held the backline together and Aidan Jolly racked up possessions the middle.

The reserves kept their season alive, holding off a fast finishing Caulfield to get the points. With the best part of a 6 goal lead going into the final term it should have been plain sailing. The visitors who had only kicked one for the day slammed on four last quarter to goals to within a few points.
Paul Riley kicked three goals, with Tyson Bramble slamming two home. Dan Barrett was named in the best along with Paul Hill, Cam McLeod and Luke Wenke.
