Springvale Districts rallied late but fell short in a tight contest against Skye at Newcomen Rd.
Goals were hard to come by and both sides wasted opportunities. We paid dearly for a lapse of concentration in the third term which saw the visitors lick 4 of their 6 majors for the day in a 10 minute burst.
To the lads credit they fought back from a sixteen point deficit at three quarter time break. Gav got on the board and a clever snap from Rob Johnston (3 goals) pulled us right back in the game. Brad Dight gave us the lead when he marked strongly and converted from 35 metres out.

It was to be the visitors who had the last roll of the dice, goaling with the clock nearly at an end.
The scoring shots would suggest that Skye would have been unlucky to lose. Both sides wasted opportunities but they were able to create more which was the difference in the end.

Lance Baptist was in rare touch across the half back line, while Clint Brooks provided a strong target all day. Justin Doust was manful in defence, well supported by Jason Adams. Last year’s reserves Best and Fairest Aiden Jolly also stepped up to show his ability at senior level along with Tim Bacic.
