The season kicked off with an epic battle against Hampton on Friday night. The visitors made all the early running and put a few through the middle. On the flip side we were a little slow to move the ball on occasions and didn't make the most of our opportunities in front of the big sticks. A bit of a coaches board shuffle saw Fergs moved into the middle and the coach up forward. We finally found a bit spark and the coaches three crucial goals dragged us back into the contest. In the end we held of a determined Hampton in what was an enjoyable contest for the spectators.
Clint made the observation in his address after the game that the lads hung in there and gave themselves a chance. Although we need to improve, with thirteen new faces in the line up, it may take some time before our best football is on display. The reserves had a good win to start the season on Saturday. New players Duran Folino,Kane Milne and Luke Jacobsen all impressed on debut. It was terrific to see Pat Ryan back in action after a knee reconstruction.
