Former Demon Scott (Rowdy) Thornton announced his retirement from AFL yesterday. Scott has been battling a chronic groin complaint and suffered a broken leg whilst playing for South Fremantle in the WAFL.
Scott played with the Demons in 1999-2000 whilst with the Sandringham Dragons, and was drafted by Fremantle with pick 66 in the 2000 draft. He played a total of 88 games after his debut in 2002, including a preliminary final in 2006. He was also fourth in the dockers best and fairest that year.
All of us at Springvale Districts watched Scott’s career with pride and admiration. Congratulations Scott on your achievements and best wishes for the next phase of your life.

Response From Scott
Dear Coops and Co at the Springvale Districts Football Club,
Thank you for your continuing support over my football career in the AFL and for the kind
words on the website. I look forward to getting back down to Newcomen in the near future and
enjoying a beer or two at the club. Good luck for the rest of the season.
Kind regards
Scott
