A trip to the peanut farm was no doubt an experience for some of our young players. The reigning premiers and completion benchmark were not in a welcoming mood as they sped away to a five goal break at the first change. On a perfect day to the mark the footy, our backline was severely undersized and the St Kilda forwards were able to capitalise on a constant supply despite the best efforts of Brendo, Fordy, Beechy and the coach. Our forwards weren’t having much fun either as evidenced by the fact that our first major did not come until into the third term. To the lads credit we fought out the last quarter well but were completely outgunned most of the day.
Anthony Bernardo continued his good form as did Brendan Ashman in defence. Luke Grabowski battled manfully in the ruck against some monsters whilst Daniel Turner provided a target all day up forward.
The reserves started the day undermanned and lost a steady stream of players to injury. Well done to the lads who pulled on the jumper to help us out. With players coming back there are better times ahead.
