Summary of the Club's History
Chelsea Heights Football Netball Club is based at Beazley Reserve, on Thames Promenade in Chelsea Heights. In recent times the Heighters have grown and developed into a strong and competitive club within the SFL. From its origins in the SouthWest Gippsland Football League in 1969, the club has progressed steadily through the ranks of the SFL from the 90’s, recently having had its most successful era as a club between 2009 -2012, playing off in the Division 1 Grand Final in both Seniors and Reserves, winning the 2010 & 12 SFL 3rds competition in, and consolidating a Colts team that has improved every year.
2012 came to a heartbreaking conclusion in the Seniors losing by 5 points in a nailbiter with East Brighton - the ball deep in our forward line as the siren sounded. Brighter results for our Thirds team who battled against an unfavourable draw and forfeits throughout the year to a tough Premiership win, for the second time in 3 years.
The completion of new Social and Player facilities in 2008, for which the club made a significant financial contribution, has enabled Chelsea Heights to evolve rapidly as a family-based club with an open and welcoming culture based on sound values and respect. We promote a strong sense of social responsibility, having contributed to the Cancer Council’s Call to Arms campaign, Jane McGrath Foundation, and our licensing responsibilities are administered with discipline.
