Today the Under 11's celebrated 6 boys who have players 50 games for Doncaster Heights;
Kristian, Blake, Cooper, Jiah, Joshua & Jordan. The banner that celebrated the player's achievements was enormous and would have put a few AFL teams to shame. The boys were pumped - time to rebound from a disappointing game last week.
I can generally tell whether the boys are switched on after 5 minutes. Today the ball didn't enter the Park Orchards forward line, the boys were ready and switched on. Some nice roving by Jiah and strong contested work by Cooper resulted in 2 nice first quarter goals. Good start, however the boys must continue to work hard defensively and run!
Second quarter, Park Orchards rebounded with 2 goals. Credit to our opposition I thought they were the stronger team overhead and showed us how to take a big strong mark today. Highlights for the first half were the strong defensive work and running by James, Harry and Tom. The elusive Toby also snagged a goal. (You still owe me a goal Toby). Up by a goal at half time.
Third quarter. Tough quarter. Both teams had a real crack. However we concentrated on switching the ball today and getting our running players out in the open. Some nice runs by Marki, Blake and Kristian provided plenty of scoring opportunities however only Hayden was able to sneak a sneaky little goal.
Last quarter. Required a strong statement by the boys and it started with Mitch in the ruck and the 'Kernahan' like presence at centre half forward by Jack resulting in a dominant last quarter by the Dockers. Plenty of scoring opportunities and goals to Josh T x 2 , Hayden and James saw the boys run out comfortable winners. Today was a team effort which was pleasing for the coaches and parents in a big game that celebrated the junior football careers of six players who have been at the club since Tackers. Looking forward to celebrating more 50 games in the same fashion during the season.

Round 2 Match Report – Coach Jarrod Weddle
Dockers 11.12.78 defeated Heidelberg 1.3.9
After a big break it was back to the game we love for players and coaches today. Big game.
Heidelberg were a preliminary finalist last year in brown grade and on paper should be a tough test for the Dockers U 11’s after our promotion to Brown grade - this was not going to be an easy game.
A minutes silence for ANZAC day and we were into it!
Two points I wanted the boys to aim for this year.
1 - Be a team of mates who play for each other and are prepared to do the hard stuff for each other!
2- We don’t lose at home!
First quarter. Could not ask for a better start. The boys controlled the middle and peppered the forward line most of the quarter. Our forwards didn’t have time to rest as our Ruckmen (Jack & Mitch) provided the midfielders with first use of the ball. Smart roving by Kristian & Hayden and a strong mark by Cooper saw us kick 3 first quarter goals. Not bad but we could have kicked more if it was for bad kicking and crowding the forward line.
Second quarter. Heidelberg came back at us. We controlled the ball we just couldn’t kick goals.
The boys struggled getting accustomed to the sunny day resulting in what is known as a ‘Falcon‘. Heidelberg on the other hand ran the ball from their backline to open forward line with ease resulting in better scoring opportunities, if not for our tight backline it could have been worse. Up by 2 goals at half time but Heidelberg had the momentum, going to be a close one.
Third quarter. Share the ball; give the ball to your teammate who is in the best position. Message delivered and acted upon. The boys ran hard and executed their kicks and handballs with pinpoint accuracy. Highlights included the overhead marking in the forward line by Jack, who brought back memories of Sticks Kernahan the way he used to torment backs with his leaping and strong marking!
Last quarter. Emphasised point 1 & 2. What did we get? A quarter where every player tackled, shepherd, bumped and shared the ball with their mates, resulting in the most dominant quarter for the day and a win for the Dockers.
Highlights for the day
Josh Toop #50 games. A fantastic team player that gives 100% every week. Has an eye catching left foot. Well done Toopy!
Kristian. 3 goals. Keep an eye on this one KB - future Richmond champ on his way!
Dion. 1st goal. Dion has worked really hard over the pre-season resulting in a big improvement in his skills and attack of the ball. The first of many goals this season. Well done.
Captains: Joshua T, Dion
Goals: Kristian 3, Jack 2, Cooper, Hayden, Marki, Mitchell, Jordan S, Dion.
Medal: Kristian
Awards: Dion, Joshua T, Jiah, Jordan M

Round 1 Sunday 6th April 2014
Balwyn B vs Doncaster Heights U11
We turned up to Balwyn for our first taste of brown division. With a few boys away for the holidays we were unsure of what to expect.
We got off to a great start with first gamer Maki kicking a goal and then continued all day to out run and out tackle the opposition. I don't think they expected us to be so tough at the ball.
We went on to win by 39 points with a wonderful TEAM display.
All three first gamers kicked a goal (Maki, Nihal and Harry). We look forward to more games like this one.
Great start boys!
