Club Mascot
In the early 1970’s, it became fashionable to release football cards and posters showing caricatures of Victorian football personalities, a footballer in various actions or themes centred around football.
A good example is the Carlton 1973 Ampol Mascot Poster which is illustrated below. Given that the North Brunswick Football Club was formed in 1971, it is likely that Club’s mascot was based on one of these caricatures around this time.
In contrast, the colours of the senior mascot (on the right) and the senior team jumpers are reversed.
The colours of the junior club mascot and the junior football team jumpers is green striping on a yellow jumper.
The North Brunswick JFC is currently running a competition internally to name our emblem or mascot. Currently, Goliath has the insider running!
Club Song
The North Brunswick JFC’ s tune is based on that of Sydney Swans (formerly South Melbourne) which in turn is from the fight song of the famed University of Notre Dame in the United States. The "Notre Dame Victory March" was written in the early 1900’s by two brothers who had graduated from the College.
Similarly, the lyrics of the North Brunswick JFC’s club song have been adapted from that of South Melbourne which again included phrases from Notre Dame’s Victory March such as “...Onwards to victory!”.
Our club song lyrics are reproduced below and you are welcome to sing them to the tune by clicking the mp3 file further below.
"Cheer, cheer, the green and the gold,
Honour the name until we grow old,
Lift that noble banner high,
North will go on and never say die...
Whether the odds be great or be small,
North will go on and win overall,
While our loyal teams are marching,
Onwards to Victory!"
