Coach Job Description
General
1. Must have a minimum Level 1 Coaching certificate. In the case of a first year coach, must be prepared and be available to achieve this level before the end of the season.
2. Be prepared to have a police check performed by the Club and provide a “working with children” check.
3. Be prepared to work collegially with the Committee and other Coaches to ensure smooth selection and operation of teams within stated Club policy.
Training requirements
1. Must provide at least one night a week of training.
2. Must teach all players the skills and techniques of the game to the best of their abilities within the Club’s general guidelines.
3. Must provide a safe and caring environment for players to train.
4. Must be responsible for all training equipment provided by the club.
Match day requirements
1. Make every effort to provide equal game time to all players in their team.
2. Provide all players opportunities throughout the season to play in all areas of the field; Back line, Centre, Forward line.
3. Prepare, in collaboration with the Team Manager, a brief weekly Match Report for publication on the Club website.
Team operation
1. Coaches must work cohesively with their allocated team manager.
2. They must conduct themselves as role models at all times.
3. They must support their team manager in organizing match day.
4. They must support their team manager in discouraging inappropriate actions from players, officials, parents and spectators.
5. They must be prepared to work with their team manager to organize the setup if their game is first up at home and also pack up and clean changing rooms if their game is last at home games.
6. Must not allow any abuse, physical or verbal, to any player on either team from any person.
7. Coaches must assist with building a good team & club culture and be available for club functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF COACHES AND TEAM OFFICIALS
1. It shall be the responsibility of the Coach or the person deputising for him in a particular match, to ensure that all players who take part in the match for his club are registered whether a regular player, or on loan.
2. It shall also be the responsibility of the Coach or the person deputising for him in a particular match that only the correct number of players is on the field at all times.
3. The Club President shall have the power to suspend any Coach who wilfully plays an unregistered player or who wilfully allows extra players to take part in the play.
4. The penalty for the first offence in any one season shall be four weeks suspension for the Coach responsible and suspension for the remainder of the Season for a second offence.
5. Central Umpires shall be instructed to report such breaches of the rules on the prescribed report form. The Central Umpire must advise the League Secretary by telephone of the charges and ensure that all documents pertaining to the charge are in the hands of the Secretary by the Monday following the match in which the alleged incident took place. Failure to adhere to any of these steps shall render the report void.
6. The Umpire shall be required to attend a convened tribunal after laying charges and shall be notified of the time and venue by the League Secretary. Failure to attend at the appointed time shall render the report void.
7. The League Executive shall also have the power to similarly penalise any Coach, Team Manager, Runner or Trainer who shows by his record of conduct that he is unwilling or unable to conduct himself in the manner required of team Officials by the League Rules and Regulations.
