AFL Queensland Wide Bay Summer Development Program – 2014/15
Dear Player,
The Wide Bay “Summer Development Program” is a skill based development program delivered by some of
the most experienced and knowledgeable coaches the Wide Bay has to offer. The program focuses on the
development and analysis of the core skills required to be an AFL footballer.
• Kicking – Technique, Accuracy, Variation, Pressure, Opposite.
• Marking – Clean, One grab, Reading flight, Highest point, Over head, Chest, Contested
• Handpassing – Technique, Accuracy, Clean, Quick, Pressure, Opposite.
• Game Sense – Leading, Timing, Reading play, Positioning, Tactics, Creativity.
• Ruck Work – Palm, Tap, Fist, Accuracy, to advantage, Leap, Timing, Strength
• Clean Hands – Below knees, One touch, Quick, Clean, Ground ball, Contested
• Running – Technique, Efficiency, Speed, Agility, Endurance.
The 2014-15 program will be open to players born in the years 2002, 2001, 2000 & 1999. The program will
be held on Monday evenings from 5.00pm to 6.30pm and will run for 9 weeks (5 weeks before Christmas
and 4 weeks after Christmas). Dates as follows:
• Dates pre Christmas - 17th November to 15th December, 2014
• Dates post Christmas - 2nd February to 23rd February, 2015
Venues
Pre-Christmas training (17th November to 15th December) will be held in both Bundaberg and Hervey Bay.
Players are able to select which venue they attend.
• Bundaberg: Frank Coulthard Oval, Claytons Road, Bundaberg
• Hervey Bay: Keith Dunne Oval, Walkers Road, Hervey Bay
Post-Christmas training (2nd February to 23rd February) will be held in Childers. All players will be required
to attend training in Childers. Players will be advised of venue at a later date.
Registration
This Summer Development Program is capped to 60 participants so please be quick to register your
intention by completing and returning the attached form, and finalise your commitment by making full
payment. Registrations close Wednesday 22nd October 2014.
Cost: $90.00 per player (includes Nine (9) weeks of expert coaching, training singlet, drills and a body
insurance program to keep you active over the Christmas holiday period.)
Please be aware the Summer Development program is used as a platform for the 2015 representative
season. Those players who aspire to Wide Bay and/or higher selection should make every effort to attend.
