Team Numbers
The Gisborne Giants have a guideline of a maximum 24 players per team.
Age Groups
Players must play in their correct age group (determined by age as of 1st January) unless they gain approval from the Executive. Approval must be requested in writing.
Insurance
The Gisborne Giants have standard insurance for Non Medicare Medical Expenses via the Australian Football National Risk Protection Program. This program is run by JLT Sport and all clubs in the RDFNL are part of this program.
What's covered?
50% reimbursement of all Non Medicare Medical expenses incurred as a result of injury and paid by you for treatment certified necessary by a legally qualified medical physician with a $100 excess per claim and a $2000 maximum per claim.
Please Note: Ambulance cover is NOT included.
**The GGFNC highly recommends that all families have their own Ambulance cover**
More information concerning our club insurance (including how to make a claim) can be found at: https://afl.jltsport.com.au/ - this is renewed at the beginning of each year.
Mouthguards
The club policy is that mouth guards are mandatory on game days.
Many players resist wearing a mouth guard because it is uncomfortable - this is usually because they are wearing an off-the-shelf version from a sports store or chemist. The solution is to have a custom-made mouth guard fitted by a professional. Any dentist or dental technician can do this.
Uniforms
The Gisborne Giants colours are orange, grey and white. Jumpers are provided by the club and must be returned at the end of the season. Players must have their own shorts, socks and boots. Shorts are grey for home games and white for away games. Socks are grey with orange hoops.
This season all new shorts will require AFL and worksafe branding. Note- it is okay to wear shorts and socks from previous season.
All players are required to wear RDFL branded socks and shorts. These are available at our local Foodworks store.
