The Northern Blues Amateurs are proud to present their 2014 leadership group, headed by co-captains Todd Beames and Dean Calcedo.
Experienced midfielder Matt Holmes also joins the group, who has impressed with his football nous since joining the Blues this off-season.
Rounding out the quartet is 48 game player Jay Phelan, who has been consistently among Northern’s best players in his three years at the club, including a best and fairest in 2012.
Calcedo and Beames are delighted to return to their posts after captaining the club to the VAFA division four premiership last season.
Beames, who is renowned for his off field leadership qualities spoke with pride to Northern Blues Amateurs media following the announcement.
“It’s honestly a privilege”, Beames said. “I look forward to leading the club upwards during these exciting times."
“Last year (the club) were stepping into the unknown, whereas this year we’re prepared and raring to go.”
Beames also said he was honoured to be named alongside his 2008 premiership captain Dean Calcedo.
“Deano and I have shared many highlights together, he definitely leads the way with his actions on the field,” said Beames.
“We’re looking forward to another big year in 2014.”
