Shawn 'Poin' O'Boyle recently registered 300 games for the Chadstone Football club. Poin joined Syndal-Tally Ho in 1988 after playing his Junior footy at Box Hill. Except for a couple years when he lived in Sydney Poin has been a constant down at Jordan Reserve.
At 42 years of age, there are not many contemporaries from his youth who still go around each weekend, "I remember Ross Bennett coming up from the U18s and I played with Alsopp's old man."
It was fitting that Poin was chaired off the ground after the ANZAC weekend game as term "age shall no weary them" is certainly apt. Poin still impresses with his commitment at training and his ability get up week in week out.
Lady president Janie Bingham was lavish in her praise of the achievement, "It was tremendous to see such a fantastic club man play 300. People like Shawn provide the heart and soul of this football club."
