Seniors
Recent matches between these teams have been torrid affairs. We won both encounters last season and the victory at the Uni with a depleted team one of our better efforts for the year.
They are a team loaded with talent and pushed pre-season fancy Old Scotch for most of last week, eventually losing by 4 goals. It was a slowish start by both sides but we found another gear through the middle stages of the quarter to lead by 15 points at quarter time, Pickett proving a real handful. The second quarter was similar to the first. Even through the early stages before we broke away in the later part to build a handy lead. The defence was right but and Ed Clinch was having a big impact on the game. It was becoming a physical affair but the tougher the game got the better we played. A useful 29 point buffer at half time.
The third quarter was easily our best. He game opened up with our on-ballers getting on top of the vaunted Uni Blues mid field with Tom McMahon providing plenty of drive. We were all over the opposition and only some errant kicking for goal preventing a much bigger lead. The Blues stuck at it kicking the final 2 goals of the quarter but by ¾ time we had built a match winning 8 goal lead.
The last quarter was just plain ugly with the physical nature of the game probably taking its toll. Both teams squandered opportunities with just one goal each and plenty of points.
In a solid team effort Ed Clinch played his best game at senior level. Pickett and Lowe continued their good form from last week and Justin Baxter led a winning backline.
Back at home next week when we host Carey who will be smarting after 2 narrow defeats.

Reserves
Two of the stronger clubs at this level so a tough game was guaranteed. It really was one that got away with poor conversion, particularly in the first half, really hurting us. Hugh Nicholson back in the swing after a late start to the season was excellent as was Harry Haley. Damo Hale returning after a long injury lay-off was very good until sustaining a badly broken nose. We look to get our premiership defence back on track next week against Carey.

Another tough one as we came up against last years premiers. Good things being shown by this young group and look forward to the upcoming matches with plenty of optimism. Aaron Kneebone and Dan Millwood the best with Adam Kovarik slotting another 3 goals.

On the end of a hammering last week we got back on the winners list in good style with a big win over Fitzroy. Boom ‘clubbies’ recruit Ben Oakley was the best with Browning and Monaghan also having good days. Tom Kovarik 5 and Ryan Hancock 4 leading the goals kickers.

19 Blues
A lacklustre affair from all reports at a very blustery Brighton Beach oval. We were never really challenged recording a comfortable win to remain undefeated. Luke Gogis best afield and Adrian Indovino 7 goals the standouts.

An impressive win against good opposition. We looked impressive early and enjoyed a 4 goal lead at half time. The Mentonians came hard in last quarter but we managed to hold them out. Aaron Hay and Jamie O’Sullivan the best players with Pat O’Connell booting 4 goals.
