After a huge pre season under new coach Posta and fitness guru Sergeant Bilko, the boys look primed for another big season. Some of the highlights have included: Daniel Botta setting a new club record, taking just 10 seconds to tear his hamstring in the first practice match. The Gul announcing his retirement after taking up an offer to be the Gold Coast’s new mascot. X-man leading Squizzy around the track for the whole pre-season and after 2 solid performances in the practice matches, the little Mexican and supercoach bargain should make his debut today.
Simmo has loved his first season at the club and this has flowed into his personal life where he met the lady of his dreams a couple of weeks ago, after sneaking her out the back door of Barries he hasn’t looked back. No doubt she will be on the sidelines cheering him on today.
Some notable departures over the summer have included Parkside’s own Christopher Skase and Big Footy’s favorite key board warrior Carl ‘Snorta’ Norton, who left after taking the club for thousands and then heading off overseas. His mate Jack Friel has also left the club after reporting back for pre season training 20 kilos over weight.
Today see’s the first Senior Flag unveiled at the club in 21 years. We also take on South Morang for the Michael Yandle Shield as the Club takes its first steps to get back up to Division 2 in 2011.
After the game, Stu Harcourt (@ Carter’s Public House (Old Salty Dog - Northcote) on Sunday’s from 5pm) will be playing all your favorites from 5:30pm to 7pm.
