Oakleigh Chargers travelled to Highgate Reserve and effectively used the advantage of the breeze in the first quarter to set up a 16 point win over Calder Cannons. The Chargers opened with a 7 goal blast and then withstood a Cannons fight back to run out winners. The Final Score was Oakleigh Chargers 13.14 (92) d Calder Cannons12.4 (76).
Kieran Nolan booted three goals while Sam Raru was best on ground. Sam Collins was also influential in the middle. Region Manager Mark Smart said “The character and spirit showed, particularly in the last quarter, was really pleasing.”
Chargers, now placed fifth on the TAC Cup Ladder, will welcome back Vic Metro representatives available for selection for its next match against the Geelong Falcons at Warrawee Park Oval on Saturday at 2pm.
