2011 NWAFCA Coach of the Month Winners - July
Auskick - Anthony Basilone (Avondale Heights)
Anthony 'Buzz' Basilone is the Avondale Heights Auskick Co-ordinator and coach of the under 10's EDFL Division 6 team. Anthony continually researches ways to develop his coaching skills by attending seminars such as the NWAFCA Steven Ball 'Winning versus Development' seminar held earlier in the year. A very enthusiastic and dedicated coach, Anthony is loved by all at the Avondale Heights Football Club.
Junior - Peter Fitzpatrick (Pascoe Vale)
Peter Fitzpatrick is the current coach of the under 10's EDFL Division 8. Peter finds the right balance between teaching the skills to the boys and keeping the training sessions fun. He is committed to being a good role model for all the kids as someone they can respect and look up to. Not only is Peter a wonderful coach but he is a genuinely nice guy.
Youth - Neil Lenepvea (Woodend)
Neil Lenepvea has been the driving force in creating club policies that give all children the opportunities to play football As the coach of the Woodend RDFL under 16 team he been the cornerstone of new initiatives within the club. This would be best represented by the pre-season overnight boot camp all players went on. Neil is committed to giving all players a fair go in a game he shares so much passion for.
Senior - Phillip Plunkett (Oak Park)
Phillip has overseen the dramatic rise of fortunes for the Oak Park senior team. Since winning the 2009 EDFL B-Grade Premiership, Phillip has introduced a winning culture and a will to give it all both on field and off field. This has seen the team reach many great heights as they knock on the door of another finals campaign.
All of our monthly winners will now receive a copy of Tom Harley’s book "Standing Tall" and a set of 20 coloured bibs for their respective clubs, which can all be collected from the Calder Cannons offices (Highgate Rec Reserve, Craigieburn). please call ahead to arrange collection.
Further, ALL of the nominated coaches will now be in line for the 2011 NWAFCA Coach of the Year announced at the annual awards dinner on August 29th at Windy Hill. All details as well as a bookings form can be found via the following link:

Thank you to all the parents, family, friends, fellow coaches and club officials who have sent through their NWAFCA Coach of the Month nominations for May, June and July. It is important that we recognise the hard work coaches put in and to continually to support football in the Calder region.
